Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day is September 23, 2023!

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 23rd, Californians can help clean the coast by joining the largest volunteer day of the year!

Two ways to participate:

  1. Pick a cleanup site to volunteer at on September 23rd, 2023 9 a.m. to noon. Gather your supplies (help reduce waste by bringing your own bucket, gloves, water bottle, hat, etc.), print and sign the waiver (coming soon). Pre-registration is not required!
  2.  Can’t make it on September 23rd? Sweep through your own neighborhood, local park, or trail any day in September on a self-guided cleanup. Use the free CleanSwell data collection app to track and report your cleanup. Find more guidance on neighborhood cleanups here.

However you choose to volunteer this year, cleaning our beaches, rivers, and neighborhoods provides a valuable service to the coast and our communities alike.

Learn how to record your trash data using the CleanSwell app, click here.

Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day 2022, was a great success! 1,510 volunteers participated either on their own or at an event, and picked up 8,358 pounds of trash and recyclables. Statewide 38,767 Californians cleared more than 308,540 pounds of trash from 1,496 miles or shorelines and waterways – all in a matter of hours. Thank you to our site captains, volunteers, and regional sponsors, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Californians continue to show they care deeply about the environment by supporting the cleanup year after year. Over 1.6 million volunteers have removed over 26 million pounds of trash over the past three decades in what has become the largest and one of the longest running annual volunteer events in the state.

The mission of Ventura Countywide Coalition for Coastal & Inland Waterways is,  “Promoting clean & healthy beaches, rivers and creeks throughout Ventura County”.
