Santa Paula, CA - On June 14, 2022, during a special meeting City Council interviewed 19 Santa Paula residents for consideration of appointments to 13 vacancies on various city commissions, committees, and boards. These positions are all unpaid volunteer appointments essential to the operation of city government and those appointed provide valuable insight and direction on various city issues and events. A day later, on June 15, 2022 at a regular meeting, City Council approved the appointments for the 13 vacancies.

Last Thursday evening, the culmination of this process took place in a room filled ceremony at Council Chambers in City Hall where City Clerk Julie Latshaw swore in those residents who were appointed by City Council on June 15. The ceremony was attended by family and friends of those being sworn in, as well as Vice Mayor Andy Sobel, Councilmember Carlos Juarez, City Manager Dan Singer, and Parks & Recreation Director Greg Barnes.

“Service on a committee, commission or board is a privilege and responsibility which in many cases, involves a significant time commitment,” said Vice Mayor Andy Sobel. “I applaud and thank all of our appointees this evening who are committed to making Santa Paula a better place for all.”

Below are the committee, commission and board positions which were filled along with a description of their responsibilities.
